The Food and Drug Administration recently declared that meat and milk from cloned cows, pigs and goats and their offspring are “as safe to eat as food from conventionally bred animals.” That’s like saying that brand A cigarettes are as safe to smoke as brand B. The question isn’t whether meat and milk from cloned animals pose additional health risks – it’s why would anyone want to consume meat and milk at all?
Face it: Meat – cloned or not – is about as “safe” as a troubled celebrity behind the wheel of a car. It’s high in cholesterol,...

Liver Pain can be an effect from malnutrition. This is because eating disorders can actually cause liver problems and digestive disorders. Eating disorders like bulimia and anorexia cause malnutrition in the body. Other disorders, like wheat or gluten allergies, coat the intestines and prevent nutrient absorption regardless of how much you eat.
When the liver does not get what it needs to carry on normal liver functions from the food, it behaves like any other living thing …it weakens, slows, shrivels or swells and eventually stops working (dies).
Be honest. Be honest with yourself. Evaluate...

FOR several chapters now I’ve been acquainting you with protein, and explaining why protein is your first food need. Actually, the protein story is so old it’s new. There were no nutrition scientists and health teachers to warn our prehistoric cavemen ancestors that if they wanted to be alert and powerful enough to survive the incredible dangers of life in their era, they had to “eat their protein every day.” What these apemen ancestors of ours did was to grab a piece of meat-more than likely raw or only half-cooked-and wolf it down. It was their instinct to seek food that...

Do all calories eaten in excess turn into body fat? Well, we can be sure that eating more fat and carbohydrate calories than our body can burn for energy, the extra calories of which will be stored as body fat. Then what about protein calories? Aren’t all calories the same? Well, most people think so. However, the truth is controversial. At least, theoretically.
Since I can’t find any research papers to confirm that extra protein calories ingested will not be stored as body fat, there is this theory that seems to support the idea. The lack of research to test this theory probably...

With all of the low carb diets out today, and all of the wonderful work Dr. Atkins has done to show us how cutting carbs can be a very effective way to lose weight, I’m sure that you probably know about the great benefits of protein. If not, then visit my blog where I constantly reveal my findings on that. Anyway the goal of these diets is to increase protein intake while drastically reducing carbohydrate consumption, so that your body will burn fat instead of carbohydrates for energy…very effective, although I really do not believe in diets which is another story. So if you find yourself...

Most of our immune systems are being weakened by a losing battle with bacteria, viruses, fungi, yeasts and molds. Antibiotics are becoming increasingly less effective as a result of over prescription over time which has caused resistant new strains of mutated bacteria. Our tissues and cells need to maintain a proper level of alkalinity to function properly.
There is growing recognition that the most significant first step you can take towards good health and to protect against sickness and disease is to maintain a healthy pH balance. An acidic body environment is also lower in oxygen and provides...

Did you know that if a child drinks just one soda every day for a year, he or she will gain an extra 10 pounds? And that drinking more than one soda a day (even if it’s diet) is associated with an increased risk for heart disease?
For those about to become a parent, be forewarned that children don’t do what you say – they do what you do. This holds particularly true for nutrition and exercise. If you are expecting a child, now is the time to evaluate what you eat and how you move. After all, it is easier to never give kids soda than it is to attempt to wean them from it once they...

The “Organic” food kick has taken off in recent years. It seems that every company has started labeling their products with “Organic” and they are able double or triple the price on the same product that didn’t have that label on it before. But what does organic really mean? Well, I have had a lot of chemistry classes in my life time and anything that contains the element carbon is organic. That means all food is organic because as far as I am aware, all food contains the element carbon. Originally for food to be called “Organic” it meant that it was grown...
